Johan Leijonhufvud Trio Johan Leijonhufvud, Mattias Hjorth and Kristofer Johansson Johan Leijonhufvud - Guitar "Strange Man" is Johan Leijonhufvuds fourth record. It has the same line-up as the first one, "Speaks The Local Bebop" (Sittel Records) which came in 1994: Mattias Hjorth on bass and Kristofer Johansson on drums. The trio started already in 1992 and for "Happy Farm", 1996, the trio was extended with Jacob Karlzon on piano. Both the trio and the quartet has toured frequently both within Sweden and down in Europe. In 2000, Johan Leijonhufvud left Sweden for Berlin. Right then, he also released his third record "Eurolines" with Peter Nilsson on drums and Christian Spering on bass. In Germany Johan plays with, among others, Till Brönner with whom he has also toured extensively. Johan, born in Gothenburg and raised in Växjö, started playing the guitar already when he was 11 years old. After the jazz education at Skurup, he moved to Malmö and has been a full time musician ever since. Mattias Hjorth - upright bass Mattias melodic and sensitive bass playing has been heard in several Malmö groups, the most current ones being Johan Leijonhufvud Trio, Cennet Jönsson Quartet, Loïc Deqidt Trio, Offshore Quintet and Footloose. He is also one of the forces in the trio Plunge, which has toured and made radio appearances with Bobo Stenson. As a jazz bassist, Mattias is in frequent demand by musicians such as Anders Bergcrantz, Bobo Stenson, Peter Danemo, Lennart Åberg, Lina Nyberg, Alex Riel, Jan Lundgren, Johan Leijonhufvud, Ulf Wakenius, Maggi Olin and Fredrik Ljungqvist. Kristofer Johansson - drums and percussion Kristofer who is a sensitive and steady musician plays with, among others, Anders Bergcrantz, Håkan Broström, Arne Domnérus, Lars Erstrand, Tomas Frank, Claes Jansson, Lee Konitz, Johan Leijonhufvud, Jan Lundgren, Bobby Shew, Bertil Strandberg, Svante Thuresson, Viktoria Tolstoy and Kjell Öhman.
